Crochet in Ohio

Mike and I are visiting my mother (age 91) in Ohio for about 10 days. We usually stay a week but will be here a few extra days to take her to a doctor's appointment. Meantime, I brought some projects with me with the intent of finishing a few things that have been 'wip' for too long. (That's works in progress.)

Here is a  little bear I made:

He goes along with the Monkey I finished a while back. There is also a puppy (Pic to come) and an elephant, who isn't finished yet. I'll also post these on Pinterest as soon as I can figure out how to get into my account there.

This was supposed to be a beret and it came out way too big. I think if I make a UK pattern again I'll go down a size in the needles. It will be a hat for a guy instead.
I did make it exactly like the pattern, which uses two  needle sizes. I didn't have the next size up for the main part of the hat, so only went up a half step. So the main part isn't as big as it should be....and the ribbing is too big despite using the correct needles.
Knitting is not my strong point, but at least this is wearable for somebody!

Between Mike and Jamie, we go through at least a container of protein powder in this house each week. I have collected so many! I painted some of them using Krylon Fusion paint (it works on plastic) and now they are on top of some cubbies I have, holding odds and ends.

Crochet Monkey

Here is a funny little monkey I made based on a design from Crochet World Magazine. I am also working on a bear, puppy and elephant!

He's about a foot tall.

Crochet Baby Beach Hat

Here is a little beach hat I made to give as a gift someday to someone's baby. There are 4 panels, blue, red, yellow and green. The pattern is in the current issue of Crochet Today magazine and is very quick to do. One of the stitches, that I've never actually seen before, is a half-triple crochet. Very easy to do and it was fun to learn something new!

Coloring Eggs

Katherine and I had fun coloring about 3 dozen eggs last night!

But, we never seem to be able to get the 'hang' of the color purple! This year we used gel food color and tried to mix the blue and red in different combos. We didn't like any of them, so I dumped them all in one container and we got this:

It's a very dark gray color, almost like a stone! (I think it's actually pretty cool, but I'd still like to have some purple eggs next year!)
