Knit Chicken

I made this chicken in just two sittings, which is pretty good for me. It's done on regular needles. I wouldn't have attempted her with double-pointed needles. It's cool to see something 'flat' take shape!

The variegated yarn just happened to make a different colored head than body!

Improved Santa

Here he is with a little fluff around his hat. It's just glued on--I didn't feel like crocheting it in!

Recent Crochet Projects

Here are a couple of projects I've just finished. The angel is actually from a bookmark pattern, which can be found here:

http://suzies-yarnie-stuff.blogspot.com/2009/12/suzies-little-angel-bookmark.html

I used a larger hook and size 4 yarn and left off the 'tail.' She could be a package topper or, if I stiffen her up a bit, an ornament.

Santa comes from "Simply Crochet" magazine, which is a UK publication. He's about 8 inches tall. I used a larger hook and size 4 yarn here. Looking at the picture, I can see I have to put some kind of trim around the hat! The pattern provides that but I wasn't liking the way it looked. I think some extra bulky yarn would do the trick.

Using up scraps

I have been sewing together pieces of fabric, and sometimes making them into things. I had made this bag with no real idea what I'd do with it. It isn't big enough to be a tote bag. Then I got an idea and stitched a little pocket along one side to hold knitting needles. Now it can be used to hold the needles and yarn for a small project like a scarf! I might even add a button to the top to keep the yarn/work from falling out.
